Why The “Traveling Rooster”

The rooster said, “I shall cry but whether the sun rises God knows.” – Georgian Proverb

Why oh why would you ever compare yourself to a bird that most believe to have no use other than mother natures wake up call? I shall tell you young Padawan.

Ever since I can remember my family spent the majority of our summers in the Rocky Mountains. At the end of the school year we would pull out the ol’ pop up camper, pack up some clothes, grab our fishing poles and hit the Boy’s Ranch Road and head northwest to our destination at Aspen Glade campground. As a little boy, all I wanted to do was fish. Didn’t matter where or for what, so when we finally arrived at the site I would fly out of the car and head straight to the river to scout the eddys and little pools that proved to have great success the previous year. I rarely was of any use setting up camp, sadly.

So I just was on cloud nine and running like a crazy kid just wanting to fish. If you are unable to relate to this feeling I have the perfect comparison for you. What holiday is coming up that is the one night that no matter what you do to fall asleep most kids cannot do it? Christmas!! The moment the sun rises and often before I would be rushing to the living room to see what Santa had left for me(because of course I was good that year). This was my behavior every morning the sound of the river woke me up from my tent. Yes, I camped in a tent while the rest of the family stayed in the camper. But I was up before the sunrise. If I were a betting man I’d guess you are catching on to the whole rooster theme. But my mom began to always wonder where I was since I never came to breakfast. That was were the nickname Rooster was born, thanks MOMMM. So from then till now that is her go to nickname and was the first name I could think of when desiring an interesting account name and website. From Rooster grew The Traveling Rooster, since I love traveling and do lots of it. My motto, beat the sunrise and you’ll never regret not having enough time.
